Lane 04 · Payroll

The filings, the deposits, and the paperwork behind them.

Payroll is the part of running a business where being slightly late is expensive and being slightly wrong is worse. We run it so you can go back to the work you actually do.

What is included

Payroll, handled

Processing

Run on your schedule, weekly through monthly, with direct deposit and pay statements.

Tax deposits

Federal and state withholding deposited on time. This is where most penalties actually come from.

Quarterly filings

Form 941, state returns, and unemployment filings, prepared and submitted each quarter.

Year-end forms

W-2s for employees, 1099s for contractors, issued and filed on deadline.

State registration

Setting up withholding and unemployment accounts, including in new states when you hire outside Georgia.

Strategy payroll

The payroll a plan creates. An S corp salary, or children on the books, done so the strategy actually holds.

The part people find out late

Half-doing a strategy is worse than not doing it.

Hiring your children is worth roughly $3,125 per child per year, but only with the contracts, the labour logs, the payroll and the year-end filings actually in place. The same is true of an S corp salary. The strategy is the easy half.

See tax planning
  • Contracts and documentation, not just a payment
  • Salary set and defensible, not guessed
  • Filings that match what the plan claimed
  • One firm, so the payroll matches the return

Planning notes

Occasional notes on planning ahead.

A short note when something changes that is worth acting on. No selling, and you can leave at any time.
